Projekt 100 trees for Mabogini Secondary School

At the Himo Tree Nursery, Jackson selected the 100 young trees for Mabogini on World Earth Day 2023 and prepared them for transportation. The road conditions were difficult due to the ongoing rainy season, but that didn't stop the pupils from taking part in the campaign with great enthusiasm. But the journey to school was a real challenge for some of them.

The second part of the project comprised two days of environmental training focusing on trees and bees. When selecting the trees, we paid attention to species that are also considered bee pasture. As these are exclusively native deciduous trees, we are not only ensuring sufficient nectar for the bees, but are also preserving biodiversity in the region with this campaign.

Together, we planted 100 young trees of 12 different species that afternoon. The school principal, Simon Masunga, was particularly pleased with the high proportion of fruit trees. With good care, the pupils will be able to harvest lemons, oranges, mangoes, guavas, avocados, Java plums and prickly ananas in just a few years. Thanks to the organization of Mr. Masunga that two students are responsible for one tree each, the cultivation of the trees will certainly be successful.
